Coney Island Memories?

I mostly remember the car ride in the red station wagon with black vinyl seats: the anticipation that this was going to be something special.  I remember a brown string bracelet with a metal yellow or orage clasp that meant we could ride everything–as many times as we wanted!  I think there was a skyride, a painted yellow brick road, and a scary, haunted house that probably wasn’t scary, but gave me nightmares.  I was too young to ride the Shooting Star.

Can anyone confirm or deny any of these memories?

Regardless, enjoy the video, and if you get a chance, see the new exhibit at Entertrainment.

Great post, Barb! Your memories, as you might guess, are quite similar to mine. The video instantly brought back a memory of the Haunted House that I’ve been scrounging for for many years. I had forgotten about those string bracelets with the triangular clasps. I can’t say for sure that those were from Coney, but I can picture them in my head well now.

I’m picturing rectangles. You may not have saved yours in a jewelry box with a wind up plastic ballerina, but I did–got rid of them at some point, but kinda wish I hadn’t. The jewelry box is gone too, but the ballerina broke.

I remember riding the shooting star, my first roller coaster ride, with my Mom. haha She loved roller coasters! I only went a couple times, that I remember, to the amusement part. What I remember most was the pool. I went there often with friends or the church youth group.

Been there, done that? Or wannna go? Let me know!
