History Museum at the Castle

There’s more than magic at the Museum at the Castle.

As a writer and journalism teacher, I loved the exhibits about Appleton’s newspapers.  In our digital world, it’s fascinating to see the enormous wheels that turned out paper, the typesetting machines, and a page laid out in metal.  No computers or InDesign available.

Other exhibits feature additional Appleton industries,DSC04940

and a small tribute to novelist Edna Ferber.

And right now there’s a visiting exhibit with lots of hands-on learning.  It’s all about food and its role in connecting cultures.
