About Barbara David

Award-winning writer Barbara David lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband and five kids.   She enjoys visiting local attractions and taking family vacations as research for her family-getaway column published in Cincinnati Family Magazine, and was proud when Edgecliff Press published a collection of those articles in a book, Cincinnati Trips with Kids in 2009.

Barbara’s other writing credits include work as a reporter for HelloCincinnati.com, a stringer for the local community newspaper, and a contributor to Baby Guide, A Cup of Comfort for Christmas and They Lied: True Tales of Pregnancy, Childbirth and Breastfeeding.

In addition to writing, Barbara also advises a teen writing club, speaks about writing locally, runs a writing camp for kids, and teaches English and Journalism part-time at Mother of Mercy High School, where years of teaching A Tale of Two Cities with students fascinated by Madame Defarge urged her to write Tell Wind and Fire.
Barbara earned a B.S. in secondary education, and a B.A. and M.A. in English and Comparative Literature at the University of Cincinnati.  Her hard work and love of learning earned her many honors, including a Phi Beta Kappa key.

When she’s not writing, teaching, helping her kids with homework, or wiping sticky things off doorknobs, she enjoys helping her husband restore their over one-hundred-year-old house.  (He repairs walls, does electrical work, tiles, installs flooring and stuff like that, but she picks paint colors very well).
